About Us
Paul Green School Of Rock
Saving Rock & Roll One Kid at a Time
The Paul Green School of Rock (SOR) is the original and premier performance based rock music school in the country for kids 7-18 years of age. SOR has just opened its first Connecticut location in Fairfield (1976 Post Road). Founded on Green’s original program of weekly individualized instruction sessions augmented by rigorous group rehearsals, these rehearsals promote team work & cooperation. The Paul Green School of Rock effectively motivates students to practice –driven by frequent performances where they discover how their hard work leads directly to applause, the most beautiful music of all. Each year all of the School Of Rock branches (50+) around the country give more than 1000 concerts at established venues including; The Whiskey, BB Kings, Carnegie Hall, CBGB’s and at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Zappanale and the annual School of Rock Festival (SORFEST).
All students earn a chance to try out for the School of Rock All-Stars, the travel team for Rock & Roll. The School of Rock All-Stars has performed with Alice Cooper, Eddie Vedder and Perry Farrell, among others, and has toured with Jon Anderson of Yes as his featured back-up-band. The school of Rock All-Stars has been featured on numerous national and international TV and radio shows and publications, including The CBS evening news. Founded in 1998, the Paul Green School of Rock Music was the subject of the documentary Rock School which airs on A &E since its debut at Sundance in 2005. The school also served as the apparent inspiration for the Jack Black hit comedy, School of Rock.
The School in Fairfield is the first School of Rock in Connecticut. It opened July 1st. In this program students learn not only to be musicians but also learn team work, cooperation, team building and have an increase in self esteem. Many parents that come in to the schools across the country, feel that their kids are stuck in stagnant music lessons, not really identifying with the music that they are playing and crave the chance to play in a Band type atmosphere. This is what the School of Rock is all about!!!
